New Zealand Biodiversity Action Plan
Biodiversity Action Plan cover
The New Zealand Biodiversity Action Plan, published in September 2016, is a targeted update of the original Strategy.
National targets and associated actions will allow us to show progress towards the five goals of the Strategic Plan of the Convention on Biological Diversity by 2020.
Halting the decline of biodiversity poses a significant challenge and needs a sustained collaborative effort across New Zealand.
The Action Plan showcases some of the significant national actions being undertaken through the combined efforts of central and local government, whānau, hapū, iwi, resource managers, communities, private landowners and businesses.
Predator Free 2050 and the Cape to City project are some examples of this national effort.
